Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is the use of oxygen in a pressurized chamber. The increased pressure allows the oxygen to dissolve and saturate into body fluids especially the blood. Once your red blood cells are saturated with this oxygen they can carry it deep into the body, which creates a wide range of positive effects.
The FDA has approved HBOT for these conditions:
Gas gangrene, carbon monoxide poisoning, Decompression Sickness (the bends), severe anemia, brain abscess, osteomyelitis, Radiation Injury, compromised skin grafts, arterial insufficiency (like diabetic ulcers), and burn injuries.
However, there are so many more conditions that benefit from HBOT. Strokes, autism, ADD, Brain injury, Parkinson's Disease, Cerebral palsy, Lyme's Disease, Diabetes, Autoimmune Conditions, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, and more. The applications in sports are so immense that most professional players have access to these machines. Accelerated recovery from injuries and improved performance has been widely documented. And then there are a host of anti-aging effects that this pressurized oxygen can help with. HBOT has been shown to reduce degeneration by stimulating blood flow, capillary growth, and improving heart function. It stimulates neuroplasticity and improves memory and reaction times. It helps the eyes by combating macular degeneration and glaucoma. It also helps joints by reducing inflammation and the skin by increasing plasticity.
