Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression is an FDA cleared non-surgical, traction based treatment for herniated or bulging discs in the neck and lower back. Anyone who has back, neck, arm or leg pain caused by a degenerated or damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. Specific conditions we treat in this office include herniated or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet syndromes, spondylosis, and even failed spinal surgery. Many patients, even some with MRI-documented disc herniations, have achieved “good” to “excellent” results after spinal decompression therapy. We have also used the decompression unit with some good results on knee, hip, and wrists.

Proper  patient  assessment by Dr. Saadeh, correct positioning, and the use of an advanced computerized traction head on the table are the keys to this therapy’s effectiveness. The pre-programmed patterns of distraction and relaxation eliminate muscle guarding and permit decompression to occur at the disc level. This creates a negative pressure within the disc, allowing the protruded or herniated portion to be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc.  It also allows for hydration and an influx of nutrients to the damaged area.

Although this may look unusual, our patients report this therapy as soothing and relaxing. Many don't want it to end!
