New research published in Sept issue of Nature magazine proves that artificial sweeteners induce glucose intolerance by altering gut microbiota. As I have said for years we humans have zero tolerance for these chemicals (Splenda, sucralose, aspartame, saccharine). When we consume them the bad bacteria in our gut have a party. These harmful organisms eat them, grow and reproduce on them, and then release chemicals that damage our gut wall and our immune system. These very "diet" products are proven to be one of the causative factors in obesity and metabolic syndrome.
Artificial sweeteners are a marketer's dream. Here is a product that is sold to "help people lose weight" and yet it secretly makes you fat or fatter. So you buy more of this "diet" product and the viscious cycle keeps spinning.
Read labels carefully- these chemicals are in almost all chewing gum, many low fat salad dressings & marinades, and of course all things ;abeled "diet".
